Fuengirola Visitors Guide

Fuengirola Tourist Information

A new website dedicated to this perfect resort in Southern Spain

The wonderful holiday resort of Fuengirola is in the centre of Spains sunny Costa del Sol. With great transport links to other towns, villages and cities of the Costa del Sol and Andalucia, a holiday here is hard to beat. In the resort itself, the sandy beaches seem to go on for ever, stretching for over five miles from Torreblanca to Sohail Castle. The widened Paseo Maritimo, or promenade as we know it in England, makes for a very pleasent walk.
Literally hundreds of bars, restaurants and nightclubs are available to the holidaymaker. Also throughout the resort are many hotel and apartment complexes, ranging from small hostels, to 4* hotels.
The port of Fuengirola still has a fishing fleet and also caters for leisure cruisers, with over two hundred berths available. A ferry service to Benalmadena also leaves from here, as well as boat trips to see the dolphins and also fishing charters.
Fuengirola zoo or Bioparc is well worth a visit. The animals are kept in their natural surroundings and not caged as in other zoos. Sohail Castle, which is at the extreme western end of the resort, was built by the Moors in the 12th century. Open for visits every day except Mondays. The resorts waterpark, Parque Aquatico, is in walking distance from Fuengirola town center. But taking a bus or taxi on a hot summers day would be preferable. Fuengirola market is the largest on the coast, and is open on Tuesday mornings. It is held on the Recinto Ferial or fair ground, and is in walking distance from both Fuengirola center and Los Boliches. On Saturdays there is a flea market on the same site. A smaller Sunday market is held near the Pyramides Hotel from 10am.
Fuengirola is the terminus of the local railway line that connects it to Benalmadena, Torremolinos, Malaga airport and Malaga city every 20 minutes. The fares are very cheap compared to Britains railways. Journey time from Malaga airport to Fuengirola is just 33 minutes, and from Malaga city only 48 minutes.
The bus station has coastal services to Benalmadena, Coin, Torremolinos, Malaga and Mijas. Also long distance services  to Algeciras, Cadiz, Seville, Granada, La Linea, Cordoba and Ronda.
